Race 9 day 1; Santa Cruz to Panama

Dan Monk EMT Ambassador has remained onboard Nova Scotia so we will be following their progress with anticipation after their fantastic result into Santa Cruz.

The fleet of the Clipper round the world race started at 1300 local (2000 GMT) with the Californian sun shining and ten knots of breeze from the North West. There was lots of jostling on the line as the yachts fought for the best position at the start of the 3,116 Knm leg down to Panama.

Dan has sailed with the Trust since 2003, coming back year after year despite a relapse. Eventually qualifying as a Yachtmaster and working for the trust last year as a skipper. Funding for Dan to take part in this historic race has come in the form of Philip Green memorial trust and JP Morgan Asset Management. Dan is hoping to raise 25p for every mile sailed please click here to donate.
