Ellen MacArthur Trust Ambassador Daniel Monk will Join Clipper Round The World Race 2007/8

The Ellen MacArthur Trust, in conjunction with Clipper Ventures, The Phillip Green Memorial Trust and JPMorgan Asset Management are pleased to announce that Daniel Monk will be able to fulfil his dream to sail around the world. This coming September 16, the 21-year-old will untie the lines as part of the crew of Liverpool 08 for the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race.
 
The Trust is also pleased to announce that Daniel Monk will become the first Ellen MacArthur Trust ambassador as he takes on this epic challenge.

The Final Day : Ellen MacArthur Trust Residential Dinghy Week

It was very windy, it was very wet, it was very, very wicked!
The EMT’s first ever residential dinghy week was given a massive thumbs up as the 28 children who had descended on Bradwell Outdoor Centre last Sunday left Essex tired, damp but very smiley today having enjoyed their last morning charging around the estuary in Picos and Dart 16 dinghies.

Day Three : Ellen MacArthur Trust Residential Dinghy Week

The weather may have put paid to sailing for the past two days but that hasn’t stopped the 28 kids taking part in the first ever EMT residential dinghy week at Bradwell Outdoor Centre in Essex having the time of their lives.

Day Two : Ellen MacArthur Trust Residential Dinghy Week

All the best laid plans…….
But as always with everything EMT, often the most fun comes when things don’t quite go as arranged.
And as Force 7 winds scupperred day two’s dinghy sailing the three groups were treated to Bradwell’s Plan B and what a Plan B it was! Canoeing, crabbing and bike rides were the orders of the day for the 28 kids taking part in the first ever EMT residential dinghy week in Essex.

Slade bets Crichton on Rolex Fastnet all in aid of The Ellen MacArthur Trust

To spice things up in this year's Rolex Fastnet Race, Mike Slade, owner of ICAP Leopard, and his Kiwi adversary Neville Crichton, owner of Alfa Romeo, have placed a wager based on which of the two yachts will be the first to cross the finish line in Plymouth. Day Six : Water bomb campaign waged on The Solent!

Due to the lack of wind today, and the delay to the racing schedule, The Ellen MacArthur Trust crew on board Scarlet Oyster took advantage of the time of their hands and soon gained a reputation as the "naughtiest" boat in the fleet!

Ellen MacArthur Trust breaks £100,000 mark at Skandia Cowes 2007

After an amazing week of fundraising activities at Skandia Cowes Week 2007 The Ellen MacArthur Trust (official charity of the event) are delighted to announce a staggering £107, 695 has been raised.  These funds will go towards The Trusts work helping young people on their way to recovery from cancer and leukaemia.

Fundraising the name of the game at The Ellen MacArthur Trust Ball

The Ellen MacArthur Trust Ball took over proceedings at Skandia Cowes Week last night with an evening of high emotion, dancing and exceptional fundraising at Cowes Yacht Haven events centre. Thanks to the amazing support received last night The Ellen MacArthur Trust are pleased to announce that the fundraising total stands at an amazing £78, 328, over £26,000 more than the ball raised last year

The summer has returned to Cowes on the Isle of Wight as perfect sailing conditions were found on the water. Scarlet Oyster Crew arrive and undertake practice sail

The first four young people to crew onboard Scarlet Oyster during Skandia Cowes Week arrived this afternoon. Rachel, Emma, Luke and Beneidict have all sailed previously with the trust. The crew undertook a practice sail  this afternoon. On their return Skipper Andy Dare commented on how much the crew had remembered from the last time they had sailed, check back tomorrow for reports on the first day of racing
