Skandia Cowes Week - Day 2

Scarlet Oyster got off to a flying start and a great first leg this morning , however with the wind increasing Scarlet Oyster has taken the decision to retire today. The aim of the week has never been to win, but to take part and and let the young people enjoy the experiance.

A great day on an off the water, with Scarlet Oyster finishing 17th out of 26th afloat in IRC Class 4 and the trusts fundraising efforts boosted ashore by a donation of £5,000, by the caring Cancer Trust www.caringcancertrust.org

Katie Miller joins the third trip as she completes her solo circumnavigation of the UK

Another exceedingly hot weekend in the Solent saw the arrival of 9 children from the Southampton and Isle of Wight region. On the last day Katie Miller joined the trip for the traditonal BBQ before completing her solo circumnavigation of the UK in aid of The Ellen MacArthur Trust.........

Congratulations to our patron Shirley Robertson

All involved with the Ellen MacArthur trust would like to congratulate Shirley and Jamie on the birth of their twin’s, Killian (5.6lb’s) and Annabel (4.8lbs), who were born  yesterday morning (12th July).
 
Both mother and babies are happy and healthy.

On 5 July 2006, 10 youngsters aged between 11 and 18 from UCLH and Great Ormond Street Hospital arrived on the Isle of Wight for the first 4 day EMT trip of 2006.  I was lucky enough to have been accepted as a volunteer

First four day trip of the summer underway

It's already been a busy year with 3 young people sailing from Balboa (Panama) to Galapogos on Gipsy Moth IV, and our J P Morgan Round the Island crew having a great weekend in June. But yesterday the first of the four day trips got underway with 10 young people from Great Ormond Street and UCLH hospitals in London, travelling down to Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
